Finished woollen Santa bottle with red coat, black belt, and white pom pom hat

Why bring an ordinary bottle of wine to a Christmas Party, when you can bring a Santa bottle of wine!!

Materials

Materials laid out including wool, pom pom, pipe-cleaners, buttons, and card
  • A bottle (any shape or size)
  • Red, black, and white wool
  • White pom pom
  • White pipe-cleaners
  • Gold or brown card
  • Black buttons
  • Double-sided tape

Instructions

  1. Apply double-sided tape around the base of the bottle.

  2. Wind white wool around the bottom of the bottle to form the base of Santa's coat. Then alternate colours — red for the coat, black for the belt area — winding tightly and applying more tape as you go. Use tape frequently, particularly when the bottle begins to taper at the neck, as the wool will otherwise slide.

  3. Wrap white wool around the lid and attach a white pom pom on top to create Santa's hat.

  4. Position white pipe-cleaners where the wool colours meet to create the fur trim of the coat. Twist them together at the back to secure.

  5. Cut a belt buckle from card — just a little more than the height of your black strip of wool. Attach the buckle and a button to the front using double-sided tape.

And that's it! You've successfully transformed your bottle into a festive creation!
