Macramé Necklace
Lately I've been experimenting with a lot of different uses for macramé. Some of my favourite projects have been macramé jewellery pieces, so I've put together a how-to for this simple macramé necklace!
What you will need:
10 x 1m pieces of wool or cord (any colour or thickness)
1 x 1m piece of wool, cord or whatever you want to use for the necklace 'chain'
How to Make a Macramé Necklace
To start with, attach your 10 pieces of wool/cord to whatever you are using for the necklace chain, using a Lark's Head knot (if you need help with knots, click here).
Once your knots are all cast on, move the two outer pieces of wool/cord away like so:
Using these central pieces, tie four square knots (again, if you need help with knots, click here).
Move away two threads from either side of this central cluster, and use the remaining threads to tie 3 square knots.
Move away two threads from either side of this central cluster, and use the remaining threads to tie 2 square knots.
Move away two threads from either side of this central cluster, and use the remaining threads to tie one final square knot. The square knots that you have tied will have formed a triangle shape.
Next, move the two pieces from either side of this triangle back so that they sit next to the triangle. Take the outmost right thread, holding it along the triangle like so:
Tie diagonal double half hitches along this thread, and repeat along the left side. Secure the two sides together with a knot.
Once this is done, all that remains is to trim the length of your threads to the desired length, and tie your necklace 'chain' to whatever length you would like your necklace to sit at.
